The novels Dogs of War and Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky struck me deep. I haven't read any other novel from this british science-fiction writer which had the same power. I love the idea which Alien Clay is built on, but it's ruined by an average writing and an annoying narrator. The idea of symbiosis and ADN horizontal transfer has been better told than in Annihiliation from Jeff Vandermeer.

Il ne s'agit pas du livre d'un historien, d'ailleurs il ne se considère pas comme tel, mais d'un journaliste. Rien ne l'indique sur la couverture, mais le livre est surtout centré sur la traite atlantique, comment l'Europe et ses colonies (Etats-Unis, Caraïbes...) se sont gavés sur le dos des esclaves. Autre roman qui sort cette rentrée littéraire. Chez Actes Sud collection exofictions, "Ascension" (In ascension en anglais) de Martin MacIness. Je lis les critiques élogieuses, je suis plus partagé. L'équivalent au cinéma, ce serait le magnifique "Ad Astra" avec des touches de "Contact" et peut-être "Proxima" (je ne l'ai pas vu).

Un pavé de 700 pages, sur trois générations au XXe siècle en Inde. Le style ça va, il y a de belles envolées.
