@gme@bofh.social I agree. I think the hard part is just developing a coherent strategy: establishing why municipalities should do this, helping them with setup and onboarding, training people and teams to use the thing, and maintenance.

I love the idea of local governments having Fedi accounts. It sounds silly, but the idea of a bunch of local departments being able to get their messages out can actually be really useful. Think about how many municipal accounts post updates on Twitter to keep people informed about local events or developments.

The thing that makes me happiest about #FediCon has involved the time spent with friends. I'm very privileged to know some absolutely amazing people, who are all building incredible things.

Johannes makes a really interesting point about how we use custom integrations between Slack and GitHub to notify us of things happening.

What if we could do this, but with ActivityPub, and funnel this data into something that tells us specifically about the things we care about? Or, what if we could keep track of all of our e-commerce purchases in one dashboard?
