@scintilla@lemm.ee that's the main thing for me too. That news orgs, political agencies, and corporations use Xitter to communicate is the real travesty.
In principle that sounds like a problem with NodeBB or other platforms you are using. Lemmy doesnt do anything special to fetch remote communities. But if you notice any error responses served by Lemmy you can open an issue.
@szicari@programming.dev it should be noted that they're shutting down the open source project. However, a fork is apparently forming. But it's good to know.
AGPL specifies that everything is provided without liability or warranty, so I dont see how anyone could have reason to sue. Besides Lemmy is not a company, if anything a nonprofit would make sense.
@eeeee when Mastodon posts enter NodeBB we save the html in the database as-is (and sanitize it on output).
This is different from NodeBB internally which saves markdown into the database.
The spoiler plugin might not be matching the symbols because from remote communities the line begins with
>! spoiler instead of just with >! itself.

Angus, while I haven't made the appropriate changes to NodeBB's implementation yet, I did draft an FEP including the changes we discussed.

It is not PR'd upstream yet, but I will do so in the coming days unless there are some concerns.
